Watervliet Price Chopper is now open

In Watervliet, a new state-of-the-art Price Chopper is now open - a few blocks away from an old, smaller one on 2nd Avenue.

A lot of shoppers are very impressed with the new 39,000 square foot building that is on the site of the former St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Anna Rozell says her daughter was baptized in the church and there was some mixed emotions but says the city needed a new store more than an empty building.

How mad is Pat Falaro of Watervliet?  Mad enough to have filed lawsuits to try and stop Price Chopper from developing across the street from his house. He even put up a cross that says "Christ Chopper."

The Albany Diocese closed St. Patrick's in the fall of 2011.

The Golub corporation says this new store shows a commitment to Watervliet.
