Joe Torre has finished his pre-induction tour of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Just like fellow inductees Bobby Cox and Greg Maddux, who were there on Monday, Torre said on Tuesday that the honor of being inducted is beginning to sink in even more.
“It's just been an amazing ride,” Torre said. “To wind up in Cooperstown is surreal for me.''
Torre was a star player before he turned to managing and finished his career as the only player to amass more than 2,000 hits (2,342) and win more than 2,000 games as a manager, according to STATS.
Torre and fellow former managers Cox and Tony LaRussa, Maddux and Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas will be inducted July 27.
