Two more incidents of a manhole covers blowing in Albany – one on South Pearl St. not far from the Times Union Center Thursday and one Friday afternoon at South Pearl Street and Howard Street. Now, Albany County Executive Dan McCoy says it's time for a far reaching investigation.
There have been more than half a dozen incidents in downtown Albany since last fall of manhole covers blowing off. Mayor Jennings has also been very vocal in calls for National Grid to get a handle on the problem.
National Grid says obviously they are working on the problem, and more than 100 new manhole covers have been installed, and there are plans to replace miles of underground wiring.
