More money is on the way to help communities recover from big storms. More than $1.7 billion will be available for more than 80 cities, towns, and villages that were damaged by Superstorm Sandy last year. Governor Cuomo says local officials can apply for anywhere between $3,000,000 and $25,000,000 depending on population and damage. He says Mid Hudson and Schoharie Valley communities that are still trying to come back from Irene and Lee are also eligible. The governor plans to host a statewide conference in June to help officials from impacted communities begin the process of putting together long range recovery plans.
