State of Emergency declared after large fuel spill in Kinderhook

Major problems in Kinderhook Thursday afternoon. A tractor trailer carrying fuel has rolled over in the Kinderhook roundabout on Route 9 at Route 9H spilling 8,000 gallons into the sewer system. 

The area is expected to be closed to traffic until at least 8pm.  Drivers are to expect long detours. Area businesses have been evacuated.

Fire companies, the county hazmat team, and encon officials are on scene.  The town is presently under a state of emergency and Ichabod Crane Central School officials have cancelled afternoon and evening activities.  Tonight's football game has been re-scheduled to tomorrow night.
