Prez says o.k. to flood disaster relief

President Obama has declared that a major disaster exists in twelve New York counties damaged by recent flooding in the Mohawk Valley region, including Montgomery, Warren, and Herkimer and Delaware Counties.. Obama also pledges federal aid for emergency work and repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the heavy flooding and severe storms that occurred between June 28 and July 4. Governor Cuomo requested the federal aid for the more than 32 million dollars in damage to public infrastructure in June. He says the federal funds will help the affected counties rebuild. FEMA is assessing whether more counties may be eligible for assistance.
