Police: Bottle bandit caught in Albany

Nearly a month after a glass milk bottle was stolen from a porch on Maplewood St., Albany Police say they have made an arrest.

Frankie Daioczok, 30, of Albany is charged with Criminal Trespass (3rd Degree) and Petit Larceny. He was arraigned Thursday morning in the Albany City Criminal Court and sent to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Police say that back on Sept. 12 around 6:30 a.m., Daioczok walked onto the front porch of a home on Maplewood Street and stole a glass milk bottle from the residents milk box, presumably for the bottle’s deposit value. He was picked up Thursday morning around 8:50 a.m. when Detective Michael Nadoraski of the Criminal Investigation Unit stopped Daioczok near Madison Avenue and Partridge Street as part of an ongoing investigation. Daioczok was arrested without incident.

Investigators also say he was wanted on a previous case in the City of Albany for allegedly stealing a seven-foot Christmas tree from the “Capital Holiday Lights in the Park” display at Washington Park on Dec. 2, 2011 around 6:00 a.m. He was caught almost immediately and charged with Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. After his arraignment for that, he was turned over to the Albany County Probation department but then never showed up for his scheduled court date.
