Pete Seeger dies at age of 94

Folk music legend Pete Seeger has died.  Seeger, known as the "Father of American Folk Music" served as a champion of the genre with classics like "This Land Is Your Land," "We Shall Overcome," "If I Had a Hammer," and "Turn, Turn, Turn."

The environmentalist and activist inspired generations of musicians including Joan Baez, Bruce Springsteen and Dave Matthews.

Those at last year's Farm Aid saw one of Seeger's final performances.

John Mellencamp introduced the iconic singer-songwriter while on-stage at Saratoga Springs, New York.  Seeger told a cheering crowd he didn't have much voice left at 94, but they could help him "make a good sound.

Seeger passed away Monday at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
