Fire Leaves 32 Homeless

A team of volunteers from the American Red Cross of Northeastern New York provided assistance to 32 people after an apartment building fire on Orange Street Thursday night in Albany. Fourteen adults and 18 children, ranging in age from 8 months to 18 years old were given lodging, clothing and food. At least four buildings were destroyed in the early evening fire.

Trained Red Cross volunteers and staff are on call 24 hours a days, seven days a week,  for large incidents and small - and are ready to help when needed with disaster assessment, client casework, sheltering, mass care, feeding, and more. The Red Cross will now work with these families to plan for long-term recovery.
